Forgotten Wonderland: A poem written for Jack
By: Hailey
I look, but cannot see as I fall through my rabbit hole.
Things are passing by too fast for numb fingers to grasp
My eyes fail me in my search for guidance and understanding
The fear and hatred lay heavy on my tongue in my escape.
Dust and violence burn my ears as things begin to disappear
As my jesters face falls into place
The hope to reunite father and son holds true
December 2010, a year to hold close as sweet Wonderland falls away
His hurt and fear fill my ears as I hit the ground running
Stand your ground brother, even as the love and destruction threaten to tear.
I scramble to pick up the pieces, as others begin to search for the hope lost in the fog.
You’d think by my look, I’d be livin' without a care, but how can I when the world around me is fallin' apart.
Inside the emotions of the story lies the truth- The Queen of Lies tries to hide.
I release my need to protect and grab a hold of the anger and the need to fight for he who is trying but growing tired.
I am not afraid to take a stand.
With my mask in place, I reach for wings of hope and trust.
My weapon of choice is truth, even though the deceit threatens to crush us all.
Carpè Diem- Seize the moment
When his courage to take back what he loves dawns on renewed eyes
No one can deny this man’s dreams take flight- I won’t allow it.
I look with renewed eyes as I fall through my forgotten rabbit hole into my
FORGOTTEN WONDERLAND
